LAPD Cancels Tactical Alert After Melrose Robbery

LOS ANGELES—A citywide tactical alert has been lifted Nov. 27 through the majority of Los Angeles, following a “smash-and-grab” robbery at a high-end store in the Melrose area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

A large group entered the Bottega Veneta store at 8445 Melrose Place—near Croft Avenue and the border with West Hollywood—and stole an unknown amount of items before fleeing, KCAL9 reported about 8:20 p.m. Friday.

Pepper spray was used during the robbery, but the LAPD could not be reached for details, according to KCAL9.

In the Los Angeles area, this incident was among the latest in a series of so-called flash mob-style robberies during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

On Friday, six smash-and-grab robberies took place in the Fairfax District, Beverly Grove, and Hancock Park, KCAL 9 reported.

According to the LAPD, a tactical alert enables all available officers to respond to a criminal incident if necessary.
